Greetings to all ACUFP members!
I am excited to share with you the plans which we have for our upcoming spring ACUFP meeting at Tuscaloosa on March 2 and 3. With proration, Boards of Trustees issues, and other hot topics across our state, it looks like we are in for an interesting and hopefully very productive meeting. If you have Presidents elect, you might want to invite them to come to this meeting also as it makes for a good transition for next year. Saturday morning we will have our University reports and time for discussion of various topics of interest and concern. Pat Bauch has made some excellent local arrangements for us and I am happy to share them with you now. Our meetings will be held in the Anderson Room on the third floor of Ferguson Center on the UA Campus. They will have parking permits for us at both the hotel (for those who check in prior to the meeting) and at Ferguson Center.
Meeting begins at 12:00 on Friday March 2 with lunch. (We will be having our lunches in the Bama Dining Room. UA will pay for everyone's lunch.)
President Sorensen will address the group at 2:00.
President Sorensen has invited us all to his residence for cocktails and dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
We will all meet for breakfast at the Hampton Inn Interstate around 8:00 a.m., where we have set aside a group of rooms at a $59.00 rate. That rate includes a substantial breakfast.
We will resume meeting on Saturday at UA from 9-12 or thereafter.
(Lunches in Bama Dining paid by UA.) The only expense to our members should be the $59.00 hotel rate. You might want to contact the Hampton Inn Interstate at 205 562-9000 or at 1-800-HAMPTON to make your reservation. Just tell them that you are with the University of Alabama Senate group and they will give you the $59 rate. The Hampton Inn Interstate is at Exit 77 on Interstate 59/20 just east of Tuscaloosa (before McFarland Blvd if you are coming from Birmingham). Please e-mail me to let me know who will be coming from your institution so that we can give Pat an accurate count for meals. I would also love to have you send me any ideas for discussion topics. Looking forward to seeing all in just a few weeks!!
Denise Gibbs, ACUFP President
